Mahatma Gandhi
Reflection:
Be the change that you want to see! I wanna be a peace soldier just like Gandhi. I have to start by changing myself. Free myself from all that enslaves me from being a nonviolent person. Changing all the hatred inside my heart into love. So I can have inner peace and share that peace with others. Free myself from all gossip, being judgmental, feeling angry and fighting back. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind; don't get even, Instead if your neighbor slaps your right cheek give him your left check or vice versa. A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as i have loved you, you should love each other. (john 13:34) As the peace maker I will walk my talk and like Gandhi I will fast this Sunday 09-08-13 and pray for Syria. I'm only human and God appreciates the little things. Because he sees everything. That's not just the beginning!(:
Civics Final
I believe I am more a liberal then a conservative. I don’t always agree with some of the topics that fall into the liberal side; but I agree most often. I do not agree with pro choice, gay marriage and the separation of religion and government.
I am not pro choice. I believe that once sperm reaches contraception it is considered murder, to perform an abortion. There are always better ways to get rid of an unwanted child. People out there couples mostly would love to adopt. I speak for the babies who will die today from an abortion, because they can’t be heard. I believe they should be given a chance to a life; even if they aren’t brought up to the best life at least they’ll have one. Children are a blessing. Not an accident, god will never throw something at you he doesn’t think you won’t be able to handle. Think of it this way. When you abort the only child God has planned for you. Don’t cry about it later and ask him why you feel so alone. Why when you’re gone there won’t be a part of you left in this world. Why no one ever celebrated mothers/fathers day for you. He’ll just answer with a tear in his eye. It was your free will. I never intended this to happen to you. I love you and I want you to be happy. That’s why I gave you free will.
Homosexuality to me is simply just a word that states a person’s interest between their same sexes. I love gay people. But the reason I do not agree with gay marriage is because I grow up thinking if god made Adam and Eve first so that they’d love each other and start off humanity by reproduction; I believe you can love whom you wish. but your actions are what makes it sinful. Either way i'm not God to judge. Do what makes you happy.
Separation of religion and government those two in my mind go hand in hand. They are both a way of controlling the people. The government makes me feel as if they are trying to forget about God, by changing the bills to no longer saying in God we trust. Have they lost trust in God or is it just a way of avoiding him from being in our thoughts. I don't understand much about their decisions if you didn't want it there in the first place why put it. Who gives them the right to knock him off of the bills. Another thing if we combined forces I believe we could make this a better place for both the homeless and the poor. Providing the necessary to them in most need instead of focusing on military. Make peace not war.

We Want to Upgrade YMHS Lighting
I am a senor at Yampah Mountain High School; before I depart I would really enjoy and feel accomplished to help the school get a grant to make our school more energy efficient.
There are 416 T8 light bulbs throughout the school. We use lights for about 8 hours per day. There are 180 days of school in which these lights are being used. Annual energy used is 19080 KWH, causing our school to pay 2 to 3 thousand dollars during a school year. We already have solar panels installed in our school, but that doesn't mean we can't use more or other alternatives.
I strongly believe we the people are wasteful. We are ambitious for more and more of everything. With all of this ambition taking control over us it also brings our planet to an unnecessary state. Instead of being wasteful why not reuse, reduce, and recycle. This would solve many of our planets problems. Reducing pollution, carbon dioxide, and more importantly trash. Because of the pollution being flushed into rivers it makes it an inhabitable environment for any life. Because of carbon dioxide our glaciers are melting causing water to rise and also our climate to change. Here at YMHS we recycle, have a green house and solar panels. But why stop there?
We could start by changing our lighting to a more efficient scale. A simple way to help would be to take half of the T8 light bulbs out of each unit. There are 4 light bulbs per unit which use 135 watts. Taking half of lights out would make a difference without costing much. Secondly, we could always use natural lighting that is already provided to us each and every day. We plan to do so using solar tubes/domes. The cost of each one would depend on the size, afterwards there is no annual cost. A great place to place those would be in the bathrooms sense it's a small area. It would also be perfect to light up our hallways and large meeting room that way. We would most certainly enjoy natural lighting every where possible. A more expensive alternative would be to instal a motion detector in our bathrooms and classrooms. Or maybe adding more solar panels.
If we don't make a difference now; then when? Time is ticking more and more CO2 is being made; it doesn't take a break because energy is always being used.
